Evaluation: Mediocre quality old repaint with edge chips and orange peel. Fair chrome. Cracked body and window seals. Sound, stretched upholstery, torn shift boot, erratic old interior panels. Good gauge legends but poorly finished dashboard and gauge bezels. The chassis and underbody received little attention and have road grime and fluid leakage. An intriguing and unusual car but one with scant attention.
Bottom Line: One of five American Motors cars from the Belle Meade Collection, this being one of 784 reportedly built in 1971. The price indicates that its mediocre condition overwhelmed its rarity and performance.
