Chassis No. 13031, Engine No. 85172. White with a blue roof over red leather. 1582-cc, 75-hp H-4. 4-speed manual. Chromed steel wheels, gold brightwork, and tools.

Evaluation: Older restoration | One of five 356Bs bodied by Beutler. High-quality paint in original colors. Shiny, clean brightwork. Excellent other than the headliner not quite fitting at the back. First restored after light damage from a garage fire in 2007, it still looks fresh. A show-quality restoration of a rare, interesting car.

Bottom Line: The Beutler brothers of Thun, Switzerland, built several bodies on the Porsche 356 platform, including an attractive one-off aluminum cabriolet called the “Pur Sang.” This more conservative coupe isn’t their best work. In fact, most would call the standard 356 coupe a prettier car. Any Beutler-bodied car, though, is a rare quirk and exciting for Porschephiles. A standard car in the same condition likely would have sold for half as much.
