Evaluation: Not much history represented, but well-restored at some point with sound older paint, straight body, and very good interior. The engine bay shows only mild use. The top and side curtains are in good shape and fit tightly. A clean, cute, and correct Bugeye.
Bottom Line: A whole 20 years ago, this Bugeye sold at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale for $9450. The restoration has mellowed but it’s still a solid and fun car. For whatever reason, despite strong money almost everywhere else for almost every type of car in Scottsdale this year, the Sprite sold for well under its presale estimate. One of Arizona 2022’s few modest buys, which makes for even more of the fun per dollar and smiles per gallon that you get with these pocket-sized roadsters.
