Chassis no. 85351; Engine no. 361954. Silver with black cloth top over black leather. 1971-cc pushrod OHV hemi-head BMW 320 industrial inline six engine, upgraded with three Solex downdraft carburetors to 80hp specs, side exhaust, centerlock wheels, Dunlop Racing tires, leather hood straps, Brooklands aero screen included, rear-mounted spare wheel, Simpson racing belts, Volvo gearbox (period-correct gearbox included), alternator, skirts, black tonneau cover and uninstalled top and frame.

Evaluation: Several chips on the nose. Paint flaking off around the hole for the hand crank. Several cracks around the rivets in the hood. Long scratch on the right side of the hood and another in front of the passenger’s side door. Very good interior with clear original gauges. Few small scratches on the wheels. Very tidy underneath. Unknown early history, but has been a vintage racer and event car since the 1980s and received restoration work in the 1990s.

Bottom Line: Sold by RM at Monterey in 2016 for $550,000, then no-saled in the Monterey/Shift auction last year at a reported bid of $450,000, the same bid that successfully bought it here. The seller could have been buying Tesla stock for the past five months with the money.
