RM Sotheby's Amelia Island 2023

Saturday, 4 March

Lots: 8

Fernandina Beach, FL; US

This was the last year for an RM Sotheby’s auction in Amelia Island. After Broad Arrow, a Hagerty subsidiary, snagged its former sale space at the Amelia Island Ritz Carlton, RM moved down the road off Amelia Island Parkway and announced that it will not be returning in 2024. It was quite a sendoff, with everything from a prewar Tatra and a 1909 Rolls-Royce all the way up to seven-figure hypercars changing hands under a nifty temporary structure with a central platform almost like a catwalk for the high-dollar cars and (thankfully) air conditioning.

Sales totaled up to $63.2M, with 78 lots sold out of 88 offered for an 89 percent sell-through rate and an average price of over $800,000. One of the newest cars on offer in Amelia this year was also RM’s most expensive, with the track-only 2010 Pagani Zonda R selling for $5.34M.

After 24 years of RM and RM Sotheby’s selling cars in Amelia Island it’s sad to see this auction depart, but some of the most interesting and significant cars from this last sale are examined in detail on the pages below.
