This was RM’s 24th year in Arizona, and for the second year in a row achieved its highest ever result in The Grand Canyon State despite limiting the auction to one day and fewer than 100 vehicles. Of the 88 on offer, 80 sold for a 91 percent sell-through rate and a $560,959 average price. Top results went to a LaFerrari in unique colors for $4.075M, a Lamborghini Miura P400 SV for $3.58M, and a Ferrari 275 GTB/4 for $3.36M. The talk of the sale, however, was the one-of-two 1969 Corvette ZL1s, fitted with an all-aluminum Can-Am engine. More classic Corvettes change hands during Arizona auction week than at any other time of year, and this was the best of them. It became the most expensive C3 (1968-82) generation Vette ever sold, with a final price of $3.14M.
The ZL1, Lamborghini and Ferrari, plus the rest of the most interesting and significant cars from RM Sotheby’s Arizona 2023, are outlined in detail on the pages below.
