Porsche has its 75th birthday in 2023, so it has been one long Porsche parade of car shows, media pieces, special models, and even an auction. For Porsche’s 70th, RM Sotheby’s held a successful all-P-car auction at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta (the company’s North American HQ), and this year’s Broad Arrow sale at the Experience Center followed much the same format – lots of awesome automobilia and a wide selection of a few dozen road and race cars ranging from early 356s to nearly new 911s.
Held outside among the building’s striking architecture and with only the occasional Delta jet disrupting things (to be fair, the world’s busiest airport is only a mile away), the Porsche sale took in $20M of total sales and 93 percent of lots sold. The only big miss was for the 167 Spa class-winning 910 race car, which failed to meet reserve at a $2.3M high bid, but nine record prices were achieved, and most cars sold well relative to their conditions. Porsche people can certainly be picky, but they were impressed with the cars here.

These prices represent some sort of mass hysteria. A 944 for over 100k. I have a box of dirt I would like to sell for 8 figures.
I love the 944, but dang that is a crazy price.
