This was Hagerty’s second year putting on the Amelia Concours (Hagerty bought the event in 2021), but 2023 was the first year that Broad Arrow, a subsidiary of Hagerty, hosted the Amelia’s official auction at the Ritz Carlton. This had previously been the turf of RM Sotheby’s, which conducted its sale down the road off of Amelia Island Parkway and announced that 2023 would be its last Amelia auction.
Broad Arrow’s setup would be familiar to anyone who attended the RM sales at the Ritz in the past, from the setups of the booths inside to the displays by the ocean outside. Only the logos were different, really.
Results were solid for a debut, with nearly $30M in total sales and 86 of 108 lots sold for an 80 percent sell-through rate. The highlight lot of the sale, Vic Elford’s Targa Florio-winning Porsche 907, failed to sell, but nine lots sold for $1M or more and record prices were set for the Acura Integra Type R and Mercedes-Benz AMG Hammer.
Some of the most interesting cars from Broad Arrow’s 2023 Amelia auction are outlined in detail on the pages below.
