Bonhams holds three auctions each year in conjunction with the top notch racing events at England’s Goodwood Motor Circuit. The Members’ Meeting sale is typically the most low-key, but it always brings the usual Bonhams mix of interesting cars across eras, genres, price points, and conditions. Being at a race track, though, the consignments usually lean toward sports and racing cars.
This year brought a number of Aston Martins in various states of repair, Hugh Grant’s Vanquish, a Porsche 911 rally car, and several race cars, including two Corvettes and two Lotuses. Although there was little in the way of wow-factor, results were strong with just a handful of cars (mostly race cars, oddly) failing to meet reserve and nearly a quarter selling over high estimate.
Some of the most interesting cars at Goodwood and their prices are examined in detail on the pages below. Our friend in the UK Chris Sharpe attended Goodwood in person and gave us valuable notes on the condition of the vehicles there.
